Is baptism necessary?

Baptism was commanded by Jesus. He gave instructions for His followers to go everywhere, teach people about the good news of salvation, the gospel, make disciples, and baptize people by His authority: Matthew 28:19-20, Mark 16:15-16.

Jesus has made baptism important to man’s salvation. Baptism is a command of Jesus. In baptism: man’s sins are washed by the blood of Jesus, he is added to the church, he is saved and united with Jesus: Acts 22:16, 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, 1 Peter 3:21, Galatians 3:26-27.

What does the Bible mean when it says baptism?

Baptism is a burial, a submersion in water to share in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Romans 6:3-4, Colossians 2:11-12. Jesus and a man from Ethiopia were buried in water when they were baptized: Matthew 3:16-17, Acts 8:36-40.

When should a person be baptized?

Before a person can be baptized, he should be at the age of understanding, where he can be taught about Jesus and believe, repent of the sinful things he has done, and confess the name of Jesus: Acts 2:36-41, Acts 8:34-38,  Romans 10:9-10.
Once a person is ready, they should not wait.
