Speaking the truth

Why do we tell lies, when we know that lying is wrong? Sometimes we don't want to be held responsible, so we hide behind made up excuses. Telling the truth takes courage and confidence. It means taking risk that someone will reject us for owning up to our failures or fears. Being completely honest is not easy, but God's word is clear: do not lie. We are new people in Christ, build trust with others by being truthful.

Colossians 3:9-10
9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.
